Over 10 years ago I found a woman posting amazing images on the history of graphic design along with super impressive paintings she had made on @flickr. Soon after the discovery I found out she had moved to Portland and I reached out to her and got to meet her in person and find out more about her story and her incredible work. I learned that she was an octogenarian who formerly taught graphic design in Washington State and was a widow of a well known graphic designer that designed the original @ridetrimet logo among other things. She was now making these large paintings that were all done by hand, without masking! I made it my mission to make her work more visible in Portland and helped her get a show in town at @ampersand_gallery_pdx which has led to two shows at @wiedenkennedy. The most recent show opening was tonight and Ellen was there basking in the glow of her 14 magnificent pieces, some of which she was working on up until this week!
