Still ticking. Almost 90 years ago, Rolex invented the world’s first self-winding mechanism with a Perpetual rotor: the Perpetual movement. Introduced in 1931 with the Oyster Perpetual, this ingenious system has since become a key feature of modern self-winding watches. Aesthetically, this new version of the robust and refined Oyster case became the blueprint for the Oyster collection.
