Today is my Mother’s birthday. September 5th. Ours was a deeply complicated relationship. I was far from the best daughter I could have been. There’s so very much I could’ve done better. But our love always broke through the complications and I love and miss her dearly. A single Mom, an immigrant, that worked sometimes three jobs to give us an academic & arts education at great sacrifice. Who taught me it was paramount that no one was different based on money, race or religion. Who gave me so many beautiful life lessons that I hold dear. I’m missing her a lot today. She was a voracious reader & also had really cool taste in music. #happybirthdaymum #missingyou #thankyou #grateful ♥️??
