Travel is one of the great privileges and joys of my life, and whether it’s by plane, train or my own two feet, I’ll always love exploring somewhere new. This week, that meant the jewel colored mountains of Colorado, with some of the most wonderful people I’ve ever had the pleasure to share a table (or a hiking trail) with. We climbed from 9k to 11k feet in one day (ok, I gave up at 10k, but who’s counting?) and fly fished together on the nearby river (don’t worry, the only one I caught went right back home after a quick photo). We waited up for the meteor showers getting drunk on good whisky and good company (and more than a bit of elevation). We woke up early in the morning to find deer grazing outside our tents and floated in hot springs in the afternoons. And we laughed, as openly and often as we cared to.
I’ve never been asked #WhyIHike before, but if I had to answer today, knowing what I do now, Id say this: there are few things better for the soul than good company and comfortable shoes on a path you’ve never traveled. This week, I was given that, and so much more.
