A gift in my backyard. This beauty was hanging from my back porch which is odd since species is usually found hanging from trees.
This is a Orchid Orb Weaver spider. The distinctive color can vary, with leaf-green legs and sides, which can vary to dark green or orange. You can find these lovely creatures from southern Canada, along the eastern states, reaching into the central US. I'm stealing a phrase from @joepetersburger "Travel less, discover your backyard, reduce your ecological footprint."
