“Instagram playgrounds” have taken over vacant studio spaces from New York to Los Angeles, ready to lure in the hashtag obsessed. They charge people anywhere from $18 to $45 to capture their experiences in the interactive pop-up exhibits — many of which lead to thousands of posts on the social media platform.
.
Paige Solomon, CEO of the #Brooklyn-based #DreamMachine, says social media has been an effective marketing tool for the exhibit, which has more than 50,000 #Instagram followers and more than 130,000 photos under their hashtag.
.
“If they share it, then more people see it. Then they want to come and capture their own moments,” Solomon says. “There are so many businesses right now that couldn’t have survived 15, 20 years ago without social.”
