The technique of this turn is much different than a lot of the turns I have talked about.....................................

This is a great turn when you have a tighter pocket to work with and don’t really have the space to do a full wrap carve .....................................

When you approach the turn, you still wait back on your back leg but instead of twisting the back arm and head to the beach, the back arm goes back into the water and almost naturally raises the front arm creating that reverse leverage and balance........................................

The leverage you create by doing this allows you to push hard through your turn. The way you come out of this turn can vary between a straight jam , a slide release or even the gnarly guys will go into full tail release reverses. It’s fun to play with the different approaches ...............................................
