Portraits have long been my favorite form of photography. I love the simplicity of them...and what comes up in interpretation when we are given the opportunity to look at a person for an extended period of time. To me, the reductionist nature of portraiture betrays the complexity of a human being, creating something of a paradox. For this image, I used east facing natural light on the balcony of my apartment.
