‘Did you know that #England has its very own desert? We didn’t either, until we visited the eerily echoing expanse of shoreline known as Dungeness. Found in Kent, Dungeness is a protected and fragile landscape; home to an RSPB reserve; over 600 types of plant; the rare short-haired bumble bee; flocks of migrating birds; a nuclear power plant; a small ‘village’ of hotchpotch homes; the sleekly designed houses of ex-Londoners; a miniature steam train and two lonely lighthouses.
