I’m here with @healthebay supporting the advocacy for #safecleanwater in Los Angles. Managing runoff is mandatory for the health of our beaches and people, the community inland and on the coast- to capture clean and store water is critical to water security for so many reasons-for public health, fire fighting, cleaner environment. The waterways were built back in the 1940’s and not intended to handle the massive current loss in the water management of this region. It is a REGIONAL and will take a regional approach so we must have a YES vote on this from the Board of Supervisors today to put on the ballot this November for public to vote. It’s a small fee for property owners (2.5 cents per sq ft only on impermeable surfaces that cause runoff on properties assessed to invest in this management that creates health, jobs and avoids penalties for violating meeting the clean water standards. It serves ALL of us including the underrepresented communities who get overlooked all the time. But this is MOSTLY about being #SMART about water.
