Well hello! ?☺️ @stowawaysteve here for another insta takeover and the first #ThruHikerThursday here at Gregory! If you don’t remember me from the last takeover - my name is Steven (trail name “Candid”) and I’m currently thru hiking the Appalachian Trail. I’ve just made it to Pennsylvania, my 6th state! I’m a photographer by trade - working on my first handcrafted photography book documenting my journey on the trail, crossing 14 states and covering over 2,000 miles along the east coast ? . 5 years ago I went on section hike through the Shenandoah Ntl Park. It was my first overnight backpacking trip. It was also when I found out people hike over 2,000 miles in the span of a few months...for fun! Over the years, it moved from the back of my mind to the front, and now I’m finally doing it! It’s been the most challenging thing I’ve ever done. Staying mentally & physically stable is a constant battle on this trail. But I can strongly say (4 months in) this is most rewarding thing I’ve ever done ? From the awesome community of hikers that look out for each other, to the incredible trail angels that have restored my faith in humanity, to being surrounded by nature everyday and challenging myself in a way that’s given me confidence and love for my body for what it can do. Hopefully I’ve captured this experience through my camera that does it justice! . Stay tuned as I share more photos of my journey on the AT and I’ll be answering some questions on the story about the trail and photography!
