‘I am seeking to represent the void’ – Lucio Fontana

Between 1963–64, Fontana produced a series of 38 oval-shaped paintings with repeated, irregular holes, entitled ‘La Fine di Dio’ (‘The End of God’). Also known as ‘The Celestial Eggs’, they represented the artist's philosophical and aesthetic explorations of space, regeneration, rebirth and the universe.

Two ‘La Fine di Dio’ paintings are on display at our London gallery, as part of our private sales exhibition, Sacred Noise. Viewing is open until 21 July.
