The collections differ in a wide variety of aspects, most obviously in the nature and scope of the objects contained, but also in purpose, presentation and so on. The range of possible items for a collection is practically unlimited, so it is only the collector who decides the criteria of selection. Nowadays collecting is primarily an activity begun in adulthood. /// Francesco Ristori, photographed on his bed. Florence, Italy - Francesco collects vintage toys, such as robots, vehicles and playsets since 1995, made in Japan mainly. “Among the Japanese and American toys, from the 60’s until the 90’s, I own more than 5000 items of an overall value equivalent to around one million euros”, he says. Francesco is a photographer, art curator and recently became president of Florence Toy Museum (FTM), sharing his treasures with the rest of mankind.
