@she_breathes_fire When I was young, I used to climb trees. I’d sling a bag filled with books and snacks over my shoulder and pull myself up to the highest branches that still made for a good hammock. With sap in my hair and scratches on my legs, I’d watch rays of light dance between the wind-blown leaves. I was a queen and this little part of Mother Nature my castle. One day, with age, I started to notice the sap that laced my fingers. It put me off. So I began to let days pass without finding myself in my normal arbor reading nooks. I didn’t reach for branches as often- not every day like I used to. With the influence of society, I watched the people I spent time with drag their lives through media, materialistic goals, and superficial conversations. Depression set in. This isn’t what I dreamed of when I was a kid. I had lost that sweet, outside solitude time that let me dream of things impossible- impossible dreams I was just crazy enough to make reality. I grew up on the go, constantly moving schools and homes, so I worked for a career that allowed for a bit more stability. I went to college for Human Behavior and was interning for the FBI- exciting but more stable than being on the move every few months. Even this wasn’t enough. Now I explore for a living. Now I climb trees, buildings, and mountains again. It’s funny how much our younger selves truly know more about what’s good for us. There is merit in our childhood dreams. @handsomerobinson surprising me with a spontaneous drone shot while balancing on an almost impossible slippery log 15 ft above ground. I kept coming close to sliding off only having my feet to balance my weight, a great balancing act. So much fun on a perfect day.
