#LOEWE Foundation’s latest exhibtion ‘Peter Hujar and David Wojnarowicz,’ will be on view until 26 August 2018 at Gran Via 8, Madrid. Hujar met Wojnarowicz, twenty years his junior, in 1980. Creative encouragement turned into a brief romantic affair that gave way to a deeper bond that outlived Hujar’s death in 1987. Through their art, both artists gave a voice to marginalised groups and championed a free expression of sexual identity that went against the conservative status quo, bringing attention to social injustices that feels uncannily timely today.
