I received a courtesy call from United States Secretary of Defense James Mattis.
We confirmed that we will urge North Korea to take concrete actions towards the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
We also agreed that we will cooperate to bring about the early resolution of the abductions issue, an extremely important matter for Japan. The blue ribbon badge shining on Secretary Mattis’ left breast made me again feel very keenly the strong bonds of friendship in the Japan-U.S. alliance.
