Today marks the 49th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in NYC, a protest sparked by violent police raids on gay bars. Stonewall is largely credited with kicking off the national fight for LGBTQ liberation and rights. But almost five decades later, there’s still so much work to do: from the constant threat of violence that trans women of color face to queer couples just trying to buy a wedding cake.
