In 1977, #HarveyMilk asked #GilbertBaker to come up with a symbol of #pride for the gay community. The first #RainbowFlag was unfurled #onthisday in 1978, and the colorful emblem remains a symbol of pride and hope. Today we celebrate 40 years of this design classic.
