#myinspiredlife: Meet Neeli Mishra. Neeli’s love for science formed early - she remembers experiments in her elementary school days and an amazing middle school teacher who encouraged exploration. That teacher held a PhD, which first inspired Neeli to consider pursuing science as a career path. Currently, Neeli is at Columbia working toward her own PhD degree with a research project aimed at understanding how emotions are represented in the brain (her subjects? fruit flies!). She hopes that her research can help to develop new treatments for conditions like depression and anxiety.
