The skull is a memento mori, a reminder that all things shall pass. There is wisdom in living in the face of such mortality, and therefore we should live fully and mindfully. Who else personifies this more than a father. A father, who watched in amazement as we came into this world, and as we grow and learn, his guidance is both toward our wildest dreams, and our safety. His loving protection goes hand in hand with such powerful encouragement. On Father’s Day we say thank you for all his wisdom, even the parts we don’t yet understand.
