"Herbert left Nazi Germany in his quest for personal and artistic freedom. After a deliberating and carefree summer in Mediterranean Italy, he needed to secure some income. With the help of Cecil Beaton and George Hoyningen-Huene, he got a job shooting fashion for Harpers Bazaar at a London studio. Though the results satisfied the client, he found the world of studio photography dreadful. After the shooting, he played with some props and created stills like this one: 'Female Slave.'
