The last couple days that have kicked off the week at the FedEx St. Jude’s Memorial golf tournament have been amazing. But nothing topped being given a tour of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. What this hospital and research facility has done since 1962 is nothing short of mind blowing. Providing children and their families care, housing, transportation, food all at no cost to the families so that they wouldn’t have to worry about mounting expenses. The all encompassing care that extends beyond just treatment of the disease. The advancement of pediatric cancer research all aimed at the goal of never having to see another single child succumb to this terrible disease. Walking the halls of the campus was humbling and wonderful and made me believe that if anyone is going to accomplish that goal, it will be because of what Danny Thomas and St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital have done.
