Identical twins make the best dance partners, according to 17-year-olds Sofia (@sofia_2001_4) and Anastasia Psymenna (@anastasia_2001_4). “We’re part of a dance group, but dancing as a duo is better for us,” says Sofia. “We can easily adjust to each other, so the dance looks synchronous and more beautiful. Because we are the same, we understand each other without words.” Twinning can be fun offstage, too. “People try to find differences between us or guess who is who,” says Sofia. “Some people even ask if we get each other mixed up when we look at ourselves in the mirror,” says Anastasia.
The twins live in central Ukraine, where they’ve studied classical, folk and modern dance, and also compete in rhythmic gymnastics. They hope to one day travel the world to learn each region’s traditional dances. “Dance is the language of the soul,” says Anastasia. “We can say not a word, but speak with our bodies.”
