Stopped in North Texas to pee on the side of the 259. No real cover, but who cares. Trucker gave a double blast of his horn and a WAY over excited smile as he shook my parked FJ blowing past. Suddenly... the rear tires skip as they lock up when he clamps down on the binders all the way to a stop on the shoulder. Tried to back that big rig up as I shook, tucked & buttoned, but the trailer started to veer out into the lane so he stopped. Then I hear him key a mic on an obvious p.a. system, clear his throat and sing out, “you looking to play”, as his head finally popped out of the passenger side window featuring that same speeding smile. “Negative, Snowman... just trying to throw out the worm after 200 miles & a Beavis & Butthead sized Icee with a couple A&W root beer refills”. I could see him think for a moment before finally pulling that mic back to his mouth with, “copy that, good buddy, hammer down... but thoughts on you.” I knew he was waiting for something, so I threw a “those are free, Snowman... Godspeed” sending that smile back into the window followed by a pitched hiss of air brakes, and a big lurch as the Snowman disappeared into the distance. Clearly his glance had been south as he blew past. Onward.
