This week we are celebrating the extraordinary contribution of over 500 volunteers at Tate who give their time, passion & expertise to visitors from all over the globe, across our four galleries. Our volunteers bring the galleries to life & Tate wouldn’t be the same without them. #VolunteersWeek

'I draw, I paint, I sculpt, and I feel that that brings a lot to my tours. I can understand when people say ‘my child could do that’ or ‘I don’t think that’s modern art’ but after my tour they might say ‘now maybe I will start looking'. This work by Peter Lanyon I like because he was a pilot. My grandfather was an RAF pilot and I just get that whooshing feeling over the Cornwall landscape from this painting. I just love it. Whenever I come to Tate - whether Tate Britain, Tate Modern, @tateliverpool or @tatestives - I am always excited to see something I haven't noticed before’ - Jenny Fernando, volunteer guide at Tate Britain with Peter Lanyon’s Wreck 1963
