With an elevation of 1,212 m (3,976 ft), Mt. Kintoki has the highest peak of the Hakone somma volcanoes. About 100,000 people climb this popular mountain every year. Straddling the towns of Hakone and Minamiashigara in Kanagawa Prefecture and the town of Oyama in Shizuoka Prefecture, the mountain has a total of three hiking courses. When you face the north side, it is a good viewing spot for Mt. Fuji, but from the south side, you can get a fantastic sweeping view of Sengokuhara, Owakudani, Lake Ashi, and Mt. Kami-yama, the highest peak in the entire Hakone region!
