From mid-May through mid-June, Muslims around the world observe #Ramadan, a month of prayer, and fasting between sunrise and sunset. “Ramadan is the month when I feel most at peace with myself,” says Noor Unnahar Siddique (@noor_unnahar), a 20-year-old writer and artist who lives in Pakistan. “It is the holiest month for Muslims, and a time when everyone gets the chance to make a fresh start. Ramadan celebrates kindness, forgiveness, love for others and patience.”
Year-round, Noor celebrates similar themes in her art journals — notebooks she fills with her original poetry and collages created out of clippings from magazines, newspapers and books. “Creating has always been a part of my identity,” she says. “I want people to look at my work and go back to their own craft with the courage that they too can make something beautiful.”
