#Irish voters overwhelmingly supported repealing the country's constitutional ban on abortions and having its parliament enact laws that reflect the popular vote, final results of the May 25 referendum show. Elections officials said on May 26 that more than 1.4 million voters in the traditionally Catholic country favored repealing the ban, the Associated Press reports, while about 724,000 wanted it to remain in place.
