Maksa is a Russian domesticated fox, a #Belyaev fox! Ishy is a US tame fox and does not have the same genetic make-up as does Maksa. Maksa, from the Russian fox program has been selectively bred for tame ness through over 60 generations of this selective breeding. This program helped to shed light on how the wolf turned into man’s BFF. While, she and her other Russian domesticated fox friends are undeniably different than their captive/wild counterparts- they are not dogs. There is no comparison to a dog. Dogs are so unique in their relationship and bond to humans. It truly is magical! .
