“Ishizuchi” means “stone hammer” in Japanese and the mountain is called so because the summit looks like one. Compared to other mountains in Japan, it’s not very tall at only 1,982 meters but it is the tallest mountain in western Japan and on the island of Shikoku.

I feel like climbing Mt. Ishizuchi is almost like a rite of passage for living in Saijo. Happy to have finally gotten out there and done it✅
