This is Mazzy and me, the first month I had her at home. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I only knew that I expected to be the best mother ever. But as I soon learned, parenting is never exactly what we expect it to be, especially that first year. Sometimes we can feel like complete failures for not living up to our own wildly unrealistic expectations. As one of my mom friends said, "I was the best mother...before I became a mother." I still don't know what I am doing, but at least I can now offer lots of advice about how I wish I had been a little easier on myself back then.
