one from our workshop in Gotland last summer - @linda_lomelino putting the finishing touches on some of her divine creations. as equally pretty to look at as they were mouthwateringly good . . sitting now in my light filled New England office pouring back over these images this morning - riffing on new ideas for our very shortly upcoming Norway workshop and feeling inspired at the thought of getting to work again with such talented ladies as @linda_lomelino @adelasterfoodtextures & @thebotanicalkitchen and guest teacher this year @blackwhitevivid . . creating spaces for gathering and creativity is something I’ve done for a long time now, in different capacities (starting in grad school) in different places and with different people. I take incredible delight in making something that is temporal, ephemeral and brings beauty, energy and creativity into to the world for the benefit of those present - even if only for a few short hours or at best days. A huge part of that joy comes from the fact that I truly believe we all need (at times) spaces that are without pressure to produce - without deadlines, without end products, without the squeeze to deliver - in order to foster personal creative growth and sustainable creative practice. in short, as adults we aren’t often afforded spaces where “play” is acceptable or encouraged - so much of our adult lives is about productivity and quantifiable outcomes.
