Jean-Michel Basquiat’s early drawing ‘Untitled’ – a highlight of our Post-War and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session in New York – formed part of the artist’s first solo exhibition at the Mazzoli gallery in Modena, Italy, in 1981.

Acquired directly from the Mazzoli show, the work has remained in the same private collection for nearly 40 years. You can see it at our Rockefeller Center galleries until 17 May.
