May Day Morris Dancing at The Long Man of Wilmington, Windover Hill, East Sussex, UK by @simoncroberts. The summer dancing season for The Long Man Morris Men starts at dawn every May 1st. The group formed in 1978 to perpetuate the English folk dance tradition of Morris dancing. It is a date that was at the heart of British culture for centuries: May Day, the moment when spring enters full bloom and summer is a-coming in. Now, after a long decline in interest, traditional May Day activities are experiencing their own rebirth. The Guardian newspaper (28 April 2018) recently reported that the sales of maypoles are growing and the number of morris dancing teams is also on the rise.
