She is beautiful. Inside and out. And she knows it. She exudes it. And she’s about 5 years old. •

The years of growing up, being a “good girl,” quieting my imagination, quieting my voice, toughening up, trying to look the part or be perfect or be something other… brick by brick, it changed me, or it caged me. •

Over time, and with age, I eventually learned how to love myself unconditionally again and how to keep leaning into that love, even when it feels like the hardest thing to do. •

That very love-of-self broke down the walls I had built. And once again, I was free. Not in that same new-to-this-world way, but rather in a way that feels purposeful; a choice. A choice that I have the privilege to make every day. •

Now I can embrace who I am without judgement or fear that the world will reject me for being too much, or not enough. •

I can just BE perfectly imperfect, with the same je ne sais quoi of that five-year-old girl, wearing a floppy hat and a strawberry dress in her living room. And it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks. Because all of me is beautiful, just as I am. •
