A rare still life painting by #SpanishBaroque artist Juan De Zurbarán has gone on display at @national_gallery in London following a private sale negotiated by Sotheby’s. One of barely a dozen works by the artist to survive, this previously unknown and undocumented work probably dates from the final years of Juan’s life, which came to an abrupt end when he died from the plague epidemic that hit Seville in 1649. #oldmasters #beyondtheauction
