What began on April 1, 2016, with a single teepee staked in the ground and a fire burning beside it has grown into an unprecedented indigenous-led spiritual resistance against the $3.8 billion Dakota Access Pipeline. Over a year after the governor of North Dakota ordered the evacuation of the camps, which for 11 months had maintained an occupied resistance against the pipeline, we return to the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.
