More than 700 black-footed ferrets have been born under the care of Smithsonian scientists. “Today, our goal is a sustainable wild population,” says SCBI’s Center for Species Survival senior curator Paul Marinari. “If we can bring back ferrets and save the prairie dogs they depend on, we can save roughly 130 unique plants and animals that call the North American prairie home.” #EarthOptimism2018 #WeSaveSpecies
