President Trump ordered "precision strikes" in #Syria alongside American allies France and Britain, he announced late on April 13, in response to an apparent chemical attack against civilians in a Damascus suburb launched by Syrian President Bashar Assad nearly a week earlier. Trump, speaking from the White House in a nationally televised address, also called out Syria’s allies, #Russia and #Iran, for "supporting, equipping, and financing" Assad's forces in the blood-soaked civil war, now in its eighth year. "We are prepared to sustain this response until the Syrian regime stops its use of prohibited chemical agents," he said, noting that strikes were underway. "What kind of nation wants to be associated with a mass murderer of men, women and children?" he said, adding that Russia must decide if it will "continue down this dark path," or join "civilized nations" as a force for peace.
