25 Works for 25 Years: This #summer in our #London galleries, the @jerwoodcollection of Modern and #Contemporary British #Art will hold an #exhibition of twenty-five works by some of Britain’s most distinguished #artists, to celebrate twenty-five years since their first-ever purchase. It was at an #auction at Sotheby’s that the #collection first began, and fittingly the #painting by Sir Frank Brangwyn will return to go on public view alongside #paintings by L.S. #Lowry, Paul #Nash, Sir Stanley #Spencer and Maggi #Hambling among others. Illustrated here is mysterious painter Christopher Wood’s The Bather (circa 1925-6), which was among the first works acquired. On view from 8 – 12 June 2018, as part of Sotheby’s Modern British Week.
