Last week, we finally got the chance to catch up properly with the 22 year old we continue to see and hear of everywhere: @pearl_de_luna. Omnipresent in the creative industry for good reason- Pearl is as amiable as she is artistically brilliant.
She's just released her EP Synesthesia. As the title suggests, it's a rich sensory exploration, and as her own name suggests it is every bit the pearl moon- calm, celestial and pleasantly tranquillising. Like sliding into a warm bath, every song on the EP soothes and softens, yet each track remains unique to the next- though we especially love the third track: 'London Lullaby'. Synesthesia is fluidly composed of a diverse medley of sounds and samples without ever being overly complex. Her broad scope of enthusiasm for music of all genres and generations, and careful absorption of the art and landscapes she's traversed in her youth are sensed from the moment you press play. For a first release, one can't help but blink in awe- and feel a little envy- at how flawless this EP truly is. A legitimate piece of art, and on we can't stop listening to in our studio.
