And I think to myself, “men really have no idea what women go through on a monthly basis. - Before I continue, I want to come right out and say that this is NOT a man-hating feminist post. I don’t hate men. On the contrary, I have high hopes and standards for the men in my life thanks to the incredible example set by my father. - What I DO hope this post’s purpose serves is to both inform and inspire you to appreciate the women in your life a little more. And if nothing else, to maybe prompt you to give her a back rub or two while she’s doubled over in the bed, clutching to the heating pad that’s wrapped around her abdomen each month.🤷🏼‍♀️ Every month, we bleed. Some more. Some less. Some dark. Some bright. Most painfully. Some not. - And as we bleed, we press on.✊🏽 - We make it to work and even sometimes, to the gym. We still manage to cook, and clean, and talk to you about your day. All while we’re dealing with the steady pain in our bellies or radiating down into the deepest parts of our sciatica. It has the ability to affect our mood, our digestive system, and our energy levels. ☝🏼But as you age, if I’m being completely honest, you learn to adjust to the ebb and flow of your hormonal balance. You learn to deal... When and if you need to take pain meds, what herbs to have on deck, and whether working out helps or hinders you during this period of time- yes, pun intended. You eventually get to the point where you’re like, “ok, I’m not going to let this prevent me from being productive, making money, and having a life.” So you learn to work with it. 👉🏼That’s why I think that men who say women can’t run for high political office or sit at the table in top executive positions with the sole argument of us bleeding every month, have never experienced a woman who has decided to learn and work with herself during her period. All it takes is a gentle reminder that it’s that time of the month and most of us have the ability to put aside hypersensitivity or that initial emotional reaction and think in a more level-headed manner. ———— Read the rest on my blog!
