I had fairytale expectations of breastfeeding before Elsie was born. I didn’t expect she wouldn’t latch easily in the beginning, which felt like an eternity of worry that she wasn’t getting enough milk. I didn’t realise I’d walk around with two leaking taps for milk makers. I had no idea that clogged ducts are the most painful thing ever. That I’d invest in a million breast pads.... that after 6 months, one boob still has a crazy forceful letdown and they leak on every feed. All clothes decisions are based on “can I get my tit out in that?”. That Elsie will only take milk the exact moment she wants it. Through the different sized boobs, hoses for nipples, all the leaking and milk stained clothes - I would not change a thing. I love breastfeeding my daughter. I am nourishing a human being that I birthed - how mind blowing is that? However we feed our babies, I salute all Mamas! What an amazing job we are doing. I send you all a virtual hug ? ???
