Photograph by @andyparkinsonphoto/@thephotosociety Mountain hare shaking – It’s not always easy being a wildlife photographer. Looking into the eyes, as we do, of some of nature’s most miraculous creatures we are constantly beguiled by their beauty, their unique charm and individual character. We become astonished by the conditions under which they are capable of enduring, we see also their value, their worth, their right to simply live free from a needless persecution. And so it becomes doubly heart-breaking when, scientifically speaking, the most despicable, cowardly and mentally disturbed sub-section of society decide to mitigate their own pathetic inadequacies but inflicting a senseless slaughter upon these cherished icons of our countryside. These known psychopaths and sociopaths, emboldened by the impotence of our abject animal protection laws slither out from beneath their wretched rocks to lay siege to these astonishing creatures, slaughtering them in their hundreds, their thousands! And this, legal in a nation of supposed animal lovers, an advanced western democracy in the 21st century? I was honoured recently when @chris.packham contacted me, as well as leading UK wildlife photographers @wildmanrouse and @benhallphotography, to use our images to front a campaign to stop this murderous assault. A video that has run alongside it, a link to which is in my bio, could do with being circulated as far and wide as we can possibly, collectively achieve. All of the mountain hare footage, not including the drone or cull footage, was filmed by me using @canonuk cameras and lenses but I must warn you that the video does contain some distressing footage. Nevertheless, in order to make informed decisions we must occasionally confront these horrors and so I ask you, I beg of you to share this footage, to shine a light on these despicable cowards and to be the change that our country so desperately needs @andyparkinsonphoto @chris.packham @wildmanrouse @benhallphotography @canonuk @onekindscotland @leagueacs @lush #dowhatsrightnotwhatseasy #ethicsbeforeimages #educateandinspire
