“He doesn’t look like he has Autism.” “Can he grow out of it?” “Is there a cure?” Next month is Autism Awareness Month…but we live it everyday. So I didn’t want to wait until April to post this. I’ve always felt that with a large social following comes a responsibility to share and make a difference in society. Our son was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3, early intervention is such an important part of understanding who these kiddos are and getting them the help they need to navigate this crazy world we’ve created. Luke absolutely loves space, he’s obsessed with it, naming galaxies I didn’t even know existed but we named him Luke (Skywalker) so on some level it makes sense. Autism Speaks, it walks, it thinks, it codes, it plays sports, it wants to be the first to go to Mars…an Invisible disability means that you can look at someone like my son and say “He doesn’t look like he has Autism…” But as the old saying goes, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover.
