Easter is just around the corner and many people are considering to buy bunnies as a gift. But people need to understand that bunnies are not low maintenance and they are in fact considered as an exotic pet. They are very intelligent and have lots of energy, which is why a cage isn't enough for them. They need lots of social interaction and exercise. Most bunnies aren't as cuddly as they look either. Most of them dislike being held and will most likely try to jump out of the person's arms, scratching and may injure themselves when they're foundering and scratching as crazy or when landing after jumping away. Bunnies are prey animals and therefore prefers to say on the ground.
Bunnies have an average lifespan of 8-10 years, which is like most dogs. If you feel like you can give a bunny a forever home for that long and have done your reading, they are amazing pets! But, don't give away a bunny as a gift, not to adults and not to children, or buy one on impulse. Make a better gift choice which comes with no obligations or responsibilities. Give a plush bunny or chocolate bunny!
