Photo @lucianocandisani (Luciano Candisani). I took this photograph in 1997 on Trindade island, isolated in the ocean about 650 miles from the Brazil southeastern coast. It is one of the key points for the renewal of marine life in the South Atlantic, and also works as a laboratory for scientific research of strategic importance to global ocean conservation. The same applies to the archipelago of São Pedro and Sao Paulo, located about 540 miles from the coast of Natal, RN. Both marine ecological sanctuaries, but still without adequate environmental protection.
The good news is that this vulnerable situation can change. The decision to create two large conservation units in the surroundings of these oceanic islands depends solely on the Brazil president's signature.
Tha campaign #EaHoraDoMar (it is time of the sea ) has already led millions of Brazilians to express support for the approval of the reserves
