WARNING TO LADIES WHO THINK THEY WANT A FANCY INSTAGRAM MANICURE: I was one of you. And yesterday, I decided to pull the trigger and get a POWDER GEL manicure bc it was warm out and I was feeling fun & young. Have you done this? They painstakingly paint each nail then dip each finger in a fine glassy dust, over and over again, dust flying about as they messily dust it off in between, until your fingers look like chunky, chalky piggy nails, then they slather some topcoat on for LOLs. The entire process took 2 hours. Honestly, I kind of hate how they look and realized nothing good has ever come out insta’s recommended videos outside of retriever snouts, but I was willing to move on. Then last night, I noticed my eye was a little red, figured it was exhaustion, woke up to a Half-Costas Terminator Eye, turned to my old friend ZocDoc and it turns out... THE GEL DUST GOT IN MY EYE AND SCRATCHED MY CORNEA!!! My lil bb cornea... A MESS. I was forced to ride the train home in my never before seen in public Michael Caine glasses and am now on my couch trying to watch Antiques Roadshow while screaming into the night. So my warning to you is to try avoiding this powder gel nonsense but if u ~insist~ on getting it, wear wrap-around Oakleys while they dip u ???☠️ ps look how naturally I staged my nails next to my fucked up eye ?
