High-school students across the country organize acts of protest in response to last week’s school shooting in Parkland, Florida.  So far there are plans for a countrywide walkout on March 14th, marches on March 24th, and a day of protest on April 20th- the anniversary of the 1999 Columbine High School shootings in Colorado.

Some protests have already begun. A group of surviving students from Douglas High School traveled today to the state capital, Tallahassee, to push for a change in Florida’s gun laws. And yesterday, 17 high-school students lied down in front of the White House for three minutes, an act meant to symbolize both the number of individuals killed in last week’s shooting (17) and how quickly one can obtain a firearm (3 minutes). ___
