Mercy, 2017 Happy New Year, I’m spending this Year of the Dog by photographing dogs. Mercy is a Briard, a spectacular almost alien-like creature. They are an ancient French breed of sheep herding dog owned by everyone from Napoleon to Thomas Jefferson. I’ve spent much of the last 11 years photographing everything from honeybees to elephants and settled in recently with a personal project photographing the character and beauty of dogs.
